COVID-19 coronavirus is still a top concern for many dental patients, and you may be delaying your treatment if you’re worried about exposing yourself to COVID-19.
But we’ve got good news for you. According to the CDC and other leading public health organizations, going to the dentist does not significantly increase your risk of contracting COVID-19.
And at The Smile Lounge, Dr. Andrew Henderson is taking additional steps to improve safety at our office during the COVID-19 pandemic. Learn more below, or contact us online to schedule an appointment now.
First and foremost, we’ve implemented a patient screening questionnaire that all patients have to answer before their appointment. This includes questions about COVID-19 symptoms, vaccination status, exposure to people who have tested positive for COVID-19, and recent travel.
In addition, we are taking temperature checks of all patients and staff members before they enter our dental office in Tigard. This ensures that we screen out anyone who may have COVID-19 or another potentially infectious virus.
Our office was under construction when the pandemic began, so we were able to reconfigure our waiting area to provide at least 6 feet of distance between each patient, which is one of the best ways to reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19.
For the protection of all of our staff and patients, all patients are being asked to wear face coverings in common areas, as well. You may only remove your face covering or mask when you enter your private treatment room.
While building our office, we added doors to all of our operatories to create private treatment rooms. This minimizes the risk of COVID-19 or other viruses and bacteria spreading between each room.
We also thoroughly clean and disinfect each treatment room between patients according to applicable federal, state, and local guidelines to ensure the safety of our patients.
All of our team members are wearing masks, and our dental team has additional PPE like eye protection, face shields, gowns, caps, coverings for shoes, and other PPE to protect themselves from potential contamination.
We also process or dispose of each piece of PPE after seeing a patient. We never wear the same PPE during multiple appointments, which helps mitigate the risk of cross-contamination.
Our team members are cleaning and sanitizing commonly-touched surfaces like tables, counters, chairs, bathrooms, and other such surfaces frequently to keep our office safe, sanitized, and clean.
Don’t put off preventive dental care due to COVID-19. Routine cleanings and oral exams keep your smile bright, and also reduce your risk of serious dental health issues like cavities and gum disease.
